After the 5-day competition (July 1st to July 6th), the World Youth Orienteering Championships 2024 held in Pilsen, Czech Republic has concluded successfully.

We would like to express our gratitude to the Hong Kong team athletes for their outstanding performance, our association believes that the persistence and efforts of the athletes will not be in vain, and we hope that they can learn from this competition experience and achieve even better results in future competitions, reaching further goals.

We would also like to thank the team manager cum coach Mr. Kwok Man Fung, the team coach Mr. Riccardo Scalet, and Mr. Cheng Yuk Tung for their training and management during the competition.

Regarding the performance of the Hong Kong team, the team coach Mr. Riccardo Scalet had the following comments - for the sprint events, "the course design requires higher physical demands, I was positively surprised by the youngest members in the team (aged 14-16) ". Since the age limit for JWOC is 20, he felt the Hong Kong team performed well. In the middle and long distance competitions, Mr. Riccardo Scalet commented that "some team members lack of specific technical terrain training and physical strength, but Joshua had a stable and positive performance in the middle-distance race." He hopes that future overseas training can help them to prepare for the AsOC and AsJYOC in the future.
